Transforming the onboarding experience for LPs.

At Titanbay, we believe access to private markets should be efficient, intelligent and intuitive. Onboarding is one of the most critical parts of the experience. It shapes first impressions and, if not carefully designed, can quickly become a source of friction, cost and complexity - especially when navigating multi-layered structures or involving legal counsel.

This month, our Product and Engineering teams have delivered a major update to the onboarding journey. The changes reduce the burden on Investors, simplifies the review process and creates a faster path to investment. The result is a smarter, more scalable experience for clients and partners alike.

Why we focused on onboarding

Onboarding is often referred to as the Achilles’ heel of private markets operations. For wealth managers supporting structures such as trusts and corporate entities, onboarding often means long back-and-forth exchanges. Multiple rounds of requests for details, lengthy email threads and repeated clarifications can quickly add up to delays and frustrations for everyone involved.

We listened to feedback, analysed operational data, compliance requirements, and mapped out the key bottlenecks. It became clear that an approach based on entity type alone was the problem. A tailored, risk-based approach was the way forward.

A smarter start

We now gather key attributes about the structure and ownership at the beginning of the journey. This strikes the balance of asking for the right information up front, to automatically assess the investor's complexity and risk, and adapt the process accordingly.

This means we no longer need static checklists. Instead, the evidence we request is aligned to the specific structure, jurisdiction and risk profile of each investor.

Getting ready to invest should not be something you have to fight through. It should be clear, straightforward and efficient.

What this delivers

Tailored evidence requests result in:

  • Faster onboarding, with minimal review cycles

  • A lower administrative burden for clients

  • Greater clarity through automated progress updates

  • More efficient internal reviews for our operations team, leading to a faster turnaround close time

Previously, onboarding a trust could involve up to six reviews and more than twenty documents. Now we’re looking at two rounds of review for the most complex entity.

Comprehensive status tracking, in platform

Clients can now view onboarding progress directly on the platform. They can see precisely what is in review, what has been approved and what is still outstanding, all in one place.

Early feedback has been very positive, particularly from teams managing complex client relationships.

Built with collaboration

This release is the result of close coordination across Product, Engineering and Operations, with a shared focus on solving a real pain point in the private markets journey.

Coming soon

We are in the final stages of testing in-platform bank details extraction and verification. This feature will remove another manual step and further streamline the onboarding flow for wealth managers and their clients.

Also in focus is a significant improvement to the portfolio experience and available data points, giving investors better visibility into their holdings and performance. In parallel, we are working on streamlining LP referrals for GPs and asset managers, making it easier to connect capital with opportunity across the Titanbay platform.

Behind the Build is our monthly series exploring how Titanbay is evolving its platform to support the next generation of private market access. Each edition shares real progress, grounded in real operational needs, designed to help our partners grow and scale with confidence.
